After 4 rounds of prototyping, the long awaited Black Sesames are back! Invokeys have been working hard since October 2022 to fix issues reported with V1 where the switches produced a high pitched chirp/ticking over time. And here we have V2... all the goodness of V1 and now chirp free.
Inspired by black sesame desserts, the Black Sesame switches are the third member of Invokey's Artisanal Switch series. As part of their continued effort with Aflion to make the best out-of-the box switches, the Black Sesames also utilize the latest lubrication process where stems are lubricated by hand, and springs are donut-dipped and metal leaf contacts are greased by machine.
As the second linear in the lineup, we started with a lengthened spring to provide a snappier feedback, but kept the lighter spring weight that we love and prefer. The dustproof stem comes with a thick stem pole that offers a softened, less harsh bottom out, leading to a fuller deep sound.
From black sesame ice cream to black sesame buns to black sesame sweet rice balls, black sesame is such a unique ingredient that provides a rich, nutty flavor, as well as a beautiful, dark charcoal-grey color. If you've never had a black sesame dessert, you're missing out!
Beautifully smooth with not really many inconsistencies in the lube job. Long pole, long spring, everything I like in a switch.
The Black Sesame switches are, for the most part, are smooth. Of the ninety or so that I've tested, only a few I deemed unusable as stock (scratchy sound or feel). The sound of these switches are really good and they rival my hand lubed Gateron CJs. Although, there is but one small problem with these switches, and that is that a majority of them have this strange noise when pressing down the switch. It's sort of like a high pitch ticking sound. At this point in time, I'm not sure if it's coming from the leaf or the lube, but it's definitely there. But despite this small flaw, I think they're a good switch that's worth the price.
