The Ice Kachang is the first switch in our Shaved Ice series and inspired by a childhood favourite dessert thanks to all the Malaysians and Singaporeans in Perth. For those who are familiar with the ice kachang/ais kacang, we hope the colourway is remiscent of some of the many elements you'd find in this amazing dessert.
Now about the switch... it's a long pole medium tactile with a rounded bump with minimal pre-travel. It comes with two options, hand lubed from factory for the cbf crowd like myself and unlubed for enthusiasts with trust issues.
We went through two rounds of prototyping and took on feedback from the community before we were comfortable releasing something that can make #tactilegang proud. Shout outs to sugar_kb for being my guinea pig, Truly Chewyie Cables for the colour matching and clickpig for giving his tactile blessing.

What's new with V2?
  • The lubed version of V1 was edging closer to over-lubed and also included the stem legs which reduced the tactility. We've asked and prayed to Aflion to go lighter on the lube application and avoid the stem legs.
  • The 58g dual stage spring ran heavier than rated and felt more like a 63.5g spring, so we've switched it up to a 55g long spring for the feel the tactile gods intended without spring swapping.
  • Top housing now says KEEBZ signifying that I've finally made it.

Specifications:

  • Tactile
  • Stem: POM. 13.9mm.
  • Top Housing: PC
  • Bottom Housing: Nylon
  • Spring: 55g (bottom out) single stage spring
  • PCB mount (5 pin)
  • Option for hand lubed by factory or unlubed
  • Manufactured by Aflion for KeebzNCables
  • Orders of 70 switches or more will come with novelty packaging and a Keebz N Cables Asian Dessert spoon. Disclaimer: the logo print will wear with use and especially if you chuck it in the dishwasher.

    My new favourite tactile

I've got two customs with Gateron Baby Kangaroos and these switches have me tempted to swap them out. I lubed them myself with Trib 3204 and they've got a similar feel, but a deeper sound. I improved them further by replacing the springs with my preferred 65g weight, and I think they're perfect. Not sure I'll bother experimenting further. YMMV. Definitely recommend trying, though.

    Fantastic clacky, tactile switches

I've been using these switches for close to 2 months now and I love them.
They feel great, have good tactile feedback and feel pretty smooth.

I had a handful of these switches show issues after a month of use, where keypresses weren't being registered at all. The support guys at Keebz 'n Cables were incredibly helpful and offered to replace the faulty ones.

These will be my go-to switches for the foreseeable future and I'd definitely get them here again.

And a tip for those who have issues with the older batches: open the switch and adjust the leaf with a toothpick or pair of tweezers. If you push it back and forth a little bit, the issues will go away for a little while. It probably doesn't fix the issue completely, but it's better than sitting with broken switches!
