Meletrix is back again, with a brand new custom- this time in the TKL form factor! In addition to the keyboard case this fully assembled version also comes with matching doubleshot PBT keycaps, WS stabilizers, and WS Standard linear switches!
Great pre-built keyboard if you don't care for knobs, backlight keys, or 2.4Ghz wireless (it only has bluetooth).
Testing out the keyboard straight out of the box, my first impression was that it looked like an ordinary keyboard. Flipping it over, you get the nice glass finish which you peel the plastic to reveal it's shine. Take a few minutes to gaze and admire it, because you'll probably never look at it ever again once your keyboard is at a desk. The keycaps were exactly what I expected - nothing special. What I was expecting, was an amazing typing sound. This keyboard did not disappoint. The sound was very impressive. It has a creamy sound that makes typing very satisfying. It is definitely the hero of this product, and now when I type on any of my other keyboards I feel a little sad inside.
VIA support is definitely a plus since I like a custom layout when I use a Mac.
Where this product needs to improve is the software / documentation. I wanted to disable the battery charging backlight which I found extremely annoying since it illuminates every time the keyboard turns on. Thankfully there is a way to do this, but I needed to flash the keyboard to update it to the latest firmware first. The documentation for the keyboard is a bit of a mess - it's either wrong or hard to understand. I had a lot of trouble flashing the keyboard and in the end it was because I had to install a driver first before using their flashing software.
Overall a very solid keyboard that delivers on its main purpose - typing.
Haven't bought a new mech keyboard in a while, and I wanted something nice that didn't require any fuss.
Seems like I made the right choice, feels good.
High build quality, but the keyboard's firmware controls are kinda annoying. The leaflet that explains the various fn-some-key combinations to switch bluetooth device or mode, or turn it on or off needs an editing pass, as it's poorly translated and difficult to locate the function you want. I also find having to use somewhat arbitrary keyboard combinations to turn it on or off or switch bluetooth mode annoying. I wish it had a dedicated on/off switch and bluetooth buttons (as the combinations are hard to remember).
But yeah, the build quality is good. Very solid. I've changed the switches now, and I think I will try removing some of the padding/gaskets and get a firmer plate? That's all preference stuff though
Keyboard is sturdy and well rounded, but the provided USB cable could have been a bit longer.
Absolutely incredible! My first mechanical keyboard and honestly it’s perfection! Cannot wait to get another one!
